About Prometheus

Prometheus: An American Vocal Consort exemplifies vocal excellence as the professional Artists-in-Residence of the Choral Arts Alliance of Missouri (CAAM). Under the direction of Artistic Director R. Paul Crabb and Assistant Director Emily Edgington Andrews, this elite 16-voice ensemble unites distinguished vocalists from across the United States, creating a uniquely versatile and intimate sound. The ensemble’s innovative programming bridges historical traditions with contemporary relevance, establishing Prometheus as a leading voice in American choral artistry and a passionate advocate for works by living composers.

Twice yearly, Prometheus embarks on Midwest tours that extend CAAM’s mission of Excellence, Education, and Innovation through performances, workshops, and masterclasses. As cultural ambassadors representing CAAM nationally and internationally, they make sophisticated choral music accessible to diverse audiences while creating meaningful connections through their exceptional musicianship and educational outreach.

Summer 2026–American Voices: Celebrating 250 Years

Prometheus presents a special summer tour commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. Under Artistic Director R. Paul Crabb, the professional vocal consort explores our nation’s rich musical heritage through thematic programs highlighting different facets of American identity. From sacred traditions to freedom songs, celebratory music to profound expressions of social change, this tour celebrates the diverse voices that have shaped our national character since 1776. Each performance features repertoire spanning America’s 250-year history, showcasing how our musical language has evolved while continuing to express our deepest values.

American Voices Launch: Stories at Sunset Missouri Tales

In partnership with the State Historical Society of Missouri, join Prometheus for the official launch of their American Voices tour celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. This intimate evening combines Missouri’s rich musical heritage with regional cocktails and storytelling, setting the stage for the weekend’s performances. Meet the professional singers, enjoy curated tales from Missouri’s musical past, and experience preview selections from their complete American Voices program in a relaxed, social atmosphere.

Local church choir members are invited to join Prometheus singers for an afternoon workshop exploring America’s rich traditions of sacred music. Participants will learn selected works spanning 250 years of American sacred compositions and join Prometheus on stage for the evening concert. Open to singers from all churches and faith traditions. Pre-registration required.

Prometheus presents an innovative concert series that pairs exceptional vocal artistry with craft brewing tradition. Under Artistic Director R. Paul Crabb, the ensemble explores the beautiful duality of human expression through music that spans sacred and secular traditions across cultures and centuries. Each section of the program is thoughtfully paired with a different craft beer style, with local establishments providing tasting flights that complement the musical selections—from contemplative options for devotional works to celebratory pairings for festive pieces.

Join Prometheus for an intergenerational evening exploring the rich tapestry of human expression, both sacred and secular. This program weaves together devotional works that have sustained communities through worship with folk songs and secular pieces that celebrate daily life, work, and gathering. Local high school vocalists join the professional ensemble in selected pieces that bridge generations and traditions. Canterbury Hill provides craft beer, locally crafted wines, and artisanal food pairings that honor both the reverent and celebratory aspects of the program—from contemplative moments paired with subtle flavors to joyous selections accompanied by bold, festive tastes.

Raise your voice in this interactive community event for all ages! Join Prometheus singers for an evening exploring folk songs and choruses of celebration from around the world. Adults can sample craft beers from our local brewery partner, while those under 21 or non-beer drinkers can enjoy artisanal craft sodas. No musical experience required—just bring your enthusiasm for singing and socializing. All participants receive a commemorative songbook and glass. Family-friendly seating sections available.
